Here we go

Long time no post. It’s hard to find time to blog when your working every day. I have to work as much as i can before October when we leave on tour. This is not some normal US run, this is a mega tour. U.S AND Europe! Yup, We are finally leaving North America for the first time. Could you call it a world tour? I dunno, but it’s going to be huge. And that’s why I haven’t posted in a while. You gotta wash a whole lot of dishes to be able to afford a world tour.

I’ll have all the tour dates up here first as soon as I know them myself. Shouldn’t be much longer till i have the huge list of shows. The tour is looking like it will be 2 months long. Yikes.

So today the Internet press begins. The blog RCRD*LBL posted a track off the new album. you can check it out by CLICKING HERE. The thing i find more interesting than the track they posted is the promotional picture they used. Jeff and I look especially weird.

And by CLICKING HERE you can read an interview i did with Short and Sweet NYC, a blog about lots of things.

A few weeks ago i did a radio interview with RadioCittaFujiko that was recently posted. Like i always do when i have a radio interview to do I forgot about it and was awakened by them calling me. That’s why i sound a little spaced out. You can hear it by CLICKIN HERE if you speak Italian. If you don’t ill have the un edited version soon.

I have a feeling that things are really gunna get going soon. It’s that mellow time right before the press stuff kicks off. Ill have a lot more stuff on the way.

Let it Die

So this is it. The cover to our new album. And if you ask me it may be the best thing we ever did. It took us only 10 days in the studio to record and mix the thing but you can’t tell. Doesn’t sound rushed at all to me.

We are so excited for it. I wish i could give you some sort of preview so you know what it will sound like. I’m not sure if i can yet so ill give you this video with a light show to one of our songs.

You can get your grubby little hands on it when it hits stores September 29th. The Album release show is with our good friends Panther on Oct 1st at Berbati’s Pan here in Portland. It’s going to be all ages so bring your family.

WHO ARE WE AND WHAT IS THIS?!

We are The Shaky Hands, a Portland, OR based band on Kill Rock Stars trying to avoid genre labels and just churn out good rock music. We think we’re doing pretty good so far, but chances are, if you’ve found your way here, you think so too.

The Shaky Hands lineup has shifted and changed over the past five years, but currently we’re locked in steady with Nick Delfs on vocals/guitar, Mayhaw Hoons on bass, Jeff Lehman on guitar, and Jake Morris on drums. You can find information on us in a variety of places. Wikipedia? Myspace? Facebook? But all of these social networking sites are a bit scattered, limiting, and downright impersonal.

So look at this! A real blog. We are finally giving this whole Internet thing a go. With about a billion social networking options out there, it’s hard to know where to start. We could make a profile on every one of ‘em, but who really wants to be checking those things constantly? We have had a Myspace page for years, but the hits are dwindling. It seems like people are migrating away from Myspace to Facebook and personally I don’t really care for Facebook. You can’t blog on it, the music player kinda sucks, and honestly I still can’t figure out how to navigate it – it is not “new user” friendly. None of the newer social network sites feel personal to me. That’s why I started this. If you and I are going to have some sort of online connection I want it to be personal – an actual connection – and I don’t wanna try to fit that connection int0 140 characters (take that, Twitter).

So I figured I would start this blog off by giving away some cool stuff. First off is a song from the never released 4 track recordings that The Shaky Hands did way back in 2004. These tracks feature the original band, consisting of Nick, Colin and Paul playing live to subsequent-member-Jeff’s 4 track in the basement of a house on Skidmore ST (affectionately known in our circle as “The Skidmore House”).

Click HERE to download the song Little Word from those recordings.

Secondly, here is a video of us playing The Sleepless at the Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. The audio is blown to bits, but I think it sounds kinda tough.

We’ve got a new album on the way and tons of news. It will all be posted here first. Come on back so we can get personal
